Don't miss this unique opportunity to welcome a true Friesian jewel into your stable!

In October 2020, Louis-Pascal went to the ranch of Gordon, a pastor from Ontario who offers equine therapy sessions to his community with exceptional horses. It was love at first sight with Colette & Fiohna, two of his Friesians who grew up together, whom the cowboy could not separate and brought back to the Fer à Cheval.
At Fer à Cheval, we offer you an exceptional experience.
For more information:
The Friesian horse originates from Friesland, one of the twelve provinces of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (Holland).
The Friesian horse descends from the Equus robustus.
Historical records show that Friesians were already known as early as 1251. Knights found this horse highly appealing because of its strength and speed, two valuable allies in combat.
Later, its flexibility and agility made this breed highly sought after in the riding schools of Paris and Spain.
In front of an elegant carriage, this breed has few rivals, and across Europe, royal courts used them as carriage horses.
As early as 1625, Friesians were imported for the first time by the Dutch to what would later become the United States of America. However, the breed was completely lost due to crossbreeding. Tom Hannon of Canton, Ohio, reintroduced the Friesian horse to North America in 1974.
The Friesian: A Protected Breed
To maintain the integrity of the breed, the Friesian Horse Association of North America (FHANA), in collaboration with the original parent organization, the Friesch Paarden Stamboek (FPS) in the Netherlands, strictly regulates the registration of Friesians.
The FPS is the worldwide registry for Friesians. Founded in 1879, the horses registered in the Netherlands are the result of more than a century of rigorous evaluation and breeder selection.
